9 Monkeys of Shaolin.
In this beat ‘em up game you‘ll play as the Chinese fisherman Wei Cheng who wants to avenge the death of his friends and family. Get your battle staff ready for a challenging adventure in Medieval China and for merciless fights with hordes of various enemies.
Brawler's Alley Thoughts:
This is a unique beat 'em up where your primary weapon is a Bo. You can upgrade your character, and unlock new moves. The game is rather fun, although some of the boss battles can get a little tedious. For the current price, we think it is a must-buy.
Price: 2.99 USD until October 16th
99 Vidas: Definitive Edition.
While this may not be the best beat 'em up around, there is a ton of good stuff to be found here. The vast number of playable characters, the many modes you can play, and some funny moments are perfect for some multiplayer sections with up to three friends. For 5 bucks, you can't go wrong with this one.
Price: 4.99 USD until October 26th
Beat 'Em Up Archives (QUByte Classics)
Beat ‘Em Up Archives (QUByte Classics) is a collection of two beat ‘em up classic games: Iron Commando and Legend both released in the '90s’.
In Iron Commando you’ll take control of either Jake, a soldier, or Chang Li, a martial arts master, in your quest to stop G.H.O.S.T. from capturing a radioactive meteorite in a brawling action.
Legend is an arcade-style side-scrolling beat 'em up game where players take control of Kaor and Igor through seven stages in total of varying thematic sets in the kingdom of Sellech, with the main objective being defeating the corrupt son of the land's king, Clovis.
Brawler's Alley Thoughts:
While these are not the best beat 'em ups from the vast SNES library, they are some pretty good examples of what you would find in the old SNES machine. For the price of one Arcade Archives, you will get two good games that will take you back to that time when suffering was just part of the fun.
Price: 7.49 USD until October 26th.
River City Girls.
There's trouble once again on the mean streets of River City, but this time the boys are in over their heads! In this all-new entry in the legendary beat-'em-up series, hot-blooded heroes Kunio and Riki have been captured, leaving it to their hard-hitting girlfriends, Kyoko and Misako, to serve up some payback.
Brawler's Alley Thoughts:
I mean... what can I say? This is River City Girls and if by now you don't know what game is this, I... I don't know what to say! But seriously, for 50% off, this is a such good deal that you should take advantage even if you have this game in another system. Fantastic game!
Price: 14.99 USD until October 16th.
Sifu.
Itching for some more good ol' Kung Fu action?
The free Arenas expansion adds multiple hours of gameplay that will put your Kung Fu to the test. With 5 new game modes, 9 dynamic locations, and 45 challenges, gear up for spectacular combats, brutal opponents, and endless opportunities to refine your moves.
Brawler's Alley Thoughts:
While not a perfect port, the Switch version of Sifu plays very well on the aging Nintendo's hybrid. The game is one of the best from last year, with a nice story, and one of the craziest combats you will ever see. Currently, it is not the cheapest it can get on the Switch, but if you are looking for some Kung-Fu action, the game is more than recommended at the current price.
Price: 23.99 USD until October 16th.
The Tale of Cloud and Wind (QUByte Classics)
The Tale of Cloud and Wind (QUByte Classics) is a beat’em up game with lots of action and hours of gameplay. Choose between 3 outlaw heroes and help them battle through oppressing armies of evil men.
Brawler's Alley Thoughts:
This old Genesis beat 'em up is the closest you will ever get to Knights of the Round. With a Chinese theme, the game is actually pretty fun, although you will find some very similar sprites and animations curiously similar to Capcom's classic. For the current price, this is a no-brainer if you want to expand your Switch collection.
Price: 3.49 USD until October 16th.
